High-Five Fridays #12

1) Gracie's re-started her cult again.

These next few may seem to be a "downer", but that's only the case if you don't feel like respecting the honesty and truths which they bring...

2) Bunny's sobering post, Food Is Not A Bad Thing:
Have you ever stood by and watched someone die and not done a damn thing to stop it?

I have. It makes you feel like shit. I won't do that again.
3) Sarah Lynn's honesty regarding her marital communication requires some thought... There's no quote to grab here because it's a process, you know; so read it.

4) Suzy writes What You Just Can't See, which contains an honest truth regarding special needs parenting:
I have been through this grief before. I know that it will fade, and when it does I will feel whole again. And because I know that you can’t mother this way, or live fully this way- I bury it within me.
5) And a high-five to all of you who get your Mother's Day gift free this year -- with Buy One For You, Get One For Mom! We're giving away free copies of Suburban Diva: From The Real Side Of The Picket Fence, by Tracey Henry with purchase. So go get 'em and give 'em!

High-Five Good Friday

1) A high-five to Always Aroused Girl (NWS) for quite naturally doing what most female humans with children do: parent and, when appropriate, have a sex life. It's certainly not politically correct in this day and age to discuss both at the same place -- unless it's coffee among your female friends. (I myself have kept the sex talk at SK. (NWS)) A favorite example of AAG's mommy posts: What We Do For Fun. Too-too cute.

2) A high-five to Elizabeth for admitting that she may be creating one of those horrid Idol contestants.

3) A high-five to hubby for his Fallout Protection for Homes With Basements preservation act.

4) If you thought communication with men & dating was difficult now, see the rules in Victorian times.

5) Suburban Daddy asks, "College or Retirement Savings?"

High-Five Friday

1) A high-five to Cafe at the End of the Universe -- not only for the 'Who Needs Perfect?' award, but for putting me on the Magnificent Mamas of the Universe list. Thanks!

2) Random Acts of Vintage speaks of girls and nerd boys.

3) FrogDog has posted 13 Idiotic Quotes from PETA & Ingrid Newkirk, which got me thinking, again.... I don't think many animal lovers who claim they love PETA realizes some of what PETA stands for (and against). Worth your time reading this just to be sure you know who & what you are supporting.

The British are coming -- the British are coming! I sure hope they understand high-fives...

4) Bella Mocha has the most charming post on US culture-shock -- you have to read it!

5) Nicholas has a list of British idioms (not idiots, idioms) that are so neat it makes me wanna start working them into conversation.

High-Five Fridays #2

1) Hugs N Stuff gave me a, "You Make Me Smile" award (for the kitschy blog) and so I have to give her a high-five!

2) A high-five to Mommytoj for showing me us the Being Five Comic.

3) Coats For Cubs needs a high-five for taking donated fur coats and using them to help orphaned wildlife. (Via Slippity Do Da's other blog.)

4) A fiver for the discussion regarding whether or not the public should be made aware that breast feeding can hurt mom's breasts. (Link is OK, but the site is NWS.) Ah-duh it hurts.

5) Before she passed away, Johnny Virgil's mom gave the kids the scrapbooks she had kept when the kids were little:
"They were full of our artwork and schoolwork from when we were in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Just about everything that went up on the refrigerator ended up in this book."
Johnny makes fun of some of his stuff, but it's also so sweet. And a little weird, like the piece displayed below... Is that a penis thumb? If so, it goes with my penis toe...

So Moms, take note: Saving stuff is good for you kids -- but it may end up on the Internets. Which is OK. The Internets, especially blogs, are just larger refrigerator door displays.
